Angola prepares to establish National Land Transport Agency

In July 2021, at the thirteenth consultation meeting of the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Transport formally proposed to merge the National Road Transport Research Institute (Instituto Nacional dos Transportes Rodoviários) and the Angola National Railway Research Institute (Instituto Nacional dos Caminhos-de-Ferro de Angola). ) The establishment of the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) aims to better manage and utilize Angola’s land transportation resources, attract domestic and foreign direct investment and promote the development of local land transportation, thereby promoting the diversified development of the Angolan economy. ANTT will have autonomous authority in the field, as well as management and economic functions. Also at this meeting, the Ministry of Transport proposed to complete the bidding for the railway infrastructure concession rights in the Lobito Corridor.

In the field of civil aviation, the main challenge for the Ministry of Transport is to complete the reorganization and transformation of Angola National Airlines (TAAG), improve TAAG's customer service capabilities, and further enhance its performance.
