State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will pay an official visit to South Africa

On October 16, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Yan Shuang announced at a regular press conference that he was invited by South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Pandor, French European and Foreign Minister Ledrien, Swiss Federal Councilor and Foreign Minister Cassis.State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will pay an official visit to South Africa from October 17th to 23rd, go to France to host the fifth meeting of the Sino-French senior exchange mechanism, and go to Switzerland to host the second round of foreign-level strategic dialogue between China and Sweden.

During his visit to South Africa, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will meet with South African President Ramafosa and hold talks with South African Foreign Minister Pandol.The purpose of this visit is to promote the implementation of the consensus reached by the two heads of state, deepen political mutual trust, enhance mutually beneficial cooperation under the framework of the “Belt and Road Initiative” and the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, and strengthen multilateralism in the BRICS, the G20 and the UN. The coordination and cooperation of the platform will promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and South Africa in the new era to a new level.
